Science World Expansion Engages Binnie Consulting Services
August 19, 2010: Binnie will provide civil engineering consulting services for SWITCH: The Outdoor Science Experience, the new outdoor science park at Science World. The park will extend the learning experience of Science World to the outdoors and focus on six themes: Water, Housing, Energy, Waste, Transportation, and Food. The upgrade will integrate with the Sea Wall, supporting the City and Parks Board vision for the site.
The scope of the services provided by Binnie include the review and design of drainage and connections to storm water and sewage systems for the site; the identification and confirmation of the total storm water and sewage load for the facility; consultation and review of drainage, slopes and grades proposed by the landscape architects; and identifying and resolving any potential conflicts between the electrical and mechanical plans for the site and the storm and sewage system.
Ken Fung, P. Eng., Senior Project Manager at Binnie will direct the project. Mr. Fung has acted as Project Manager and Engineer on numerous engineering assignments throughout the Lower Mainland in the past 20 years. He is assisted on the project by Geneve Lau, EIT, Designer.
