Stanley Park 'S' Curve Reconstruction Location: Vancouver, BC
Overview
R.F. Binnie was retained to provide construction survey layout for Stanley Park 'S' Curve Reconstruction Project at the entrance to the Stanley Park Causeway adjacent to Lost Lagoon.. The project involved a complete realignment of the road section and construction of a bridge to improve the traffic movement and an underpass to allow pedestrians to access the Park. The project was made complex due to traffic flow concerns and many unknown underground utility locations, and required a full time surveyor on-site at all times. In order to minimize costs and increase the efficiency of the survey work, robotic technology was utilized and on-site design changes were implemented in the field by the project surveyor without any delay to the project schedule. The project was successfully completed for a construction cost of $12 million.
