41B St. Overpass at Deltaport Way

Location:
Delta, BC

As part of the Roberts Bank Rail Corridor Program, this project eliminates the existing at-grade rail crossing, and facilitates planned future expansion of the railway servicing Deltaport.

Project includes a new overpass structure over Deltaport Way and the BC Rail corridor, a new signalized T intersection at Deltaport Way, watermain relocation, temporary detour route through the project site during construction.  Extensive coordination with Tsawwassen First Nation, as well as other stakeholders: Corporation of Delta, Agricultural Land Commission, TransLink and RBRC Steering Commitee.  Provided contract and procurement advise to MoT for delivery options.

Binnie originally prepared a conceptual design for the overpass project as part of an "As and When" contract with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.  Binnie was later retained, as a subconsultant to Klohn Crippen Berger, to prepare the detailed design.  Binnie was also responsible for traffic engineering including signal timing design for the temporary signal which included railway pre-emption as well as the ultimate signal with no railway pre-emption.
