Austin & Ridgeway Avenues Functional Design
With the assistance of an Urban Design Consultant, the City of Coquitlam developed a neighborhood plan concept for the future redevelopment of the Austin Heights neighborhood. After the initial public consultation phase, the City retained Binnie to evolve the technical merits of the design concept through preliminary engineering design.
The purpose of the assignment was to identify limitations and challenges of the design concept with respect to transportation movements, property access and required dedications, as well as the integration of incremental future development over the next 20 years.
Binnie was responsible for preparation of plan view design for the future road layout, that included two mid-block pedestrian crossings, the preliminary design of six intersections complete with design vehicle turning templates, preparation of property acquisition drawings, a design workshop, cost estimates, and summary reports.
