Britannia Roadworks

The Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management retained Binnie to design, administrate and inspect the construction of a major access road up on the Britannia mountain for the future acid mine drainage water treatment plant. The work was valued at approximately $3.07 million and involved a significant amount of earth moving, subgrade preparation, stream diversions and environmental coordination.

The contract included the construction of 1.3 km of two-lane road through the forest surrounding Britannia Beach, BC. To supply the site, we constructed 1.2 kilometers of ductile iron watermains, 450 meters of sanitary sewers, 500 meters of storm sewers and two multi-plate arch culverts.
