Canada Line Bus Loops
Binnie was the Project Manager for the design and construction stages of two bus loops associated with the Canada Line rapid transit system, located at the Marine Drive Station and Bridgeport Station. Both projects included landscaping, geotechnical, civil and electrical works. The Marine Drive Station also included a trolley overhead system for buses.
As Project Manager for the design and construction stages of two bus loops associated with the Canada Line rapid transit system, Binnie was responsible for costing, scheduling, quality management, and risk management. Binnie prepared the RFP for the detailed design contract, and oversaw the selection of a detailed design consultant. A Construction Management approach was utilized for the construction of the Marine Drive bus loop resulting in an advanced construction schedule during the completion of the detailed design.
Binnie managed coordination with a variety of departments at TransLink, Canada Line Project, Cities of Richmond and Vancouver, and Coast Mountain Bus Company. With an aggressive schedule for construction, a critical requirement was to have the bus loops in service for Canada Line opening day. Binnie also managed the design and construction of a third bus loop involving a complex land arrangement executed following the completion of the Canada Line.
