Cariboo Highway No. 97 - 148 Mile to Likely Road
Binnie was retained to prepare a Detailed Design of the four-laning of Highway 97 from Likely Road to 148 Mile. The widening of the highway ties in to the previous work completed within the WLIR.
The work scope included Detailed Design of the highway, cost estimates, preparation at each stage of the design, coordination with the utilities, structural design by a sub-consultant to replace the existing Borland Creek bridge, re-alignment of Borland Creek, and access management by consolidating driveways using frontage roads and two major new intersections. Binnie also prepared presentation materials and attended Public Information Sessions to meet with the local stakeholders. Contract documents were subsequently prepared and the project was tendered successfully, and advanced to the construction stage.
Binnie completed the existing ground survey, constructed the DTM, and perpared the Detailed Design. Binnie was also responsible for creating a Traffic Control Plan to maintain 2 lanes of traffic on the existing highway. The Traffic Control Plan consisted of four different stages to minimize disruption to traffic passing through the construction zone.
