Discovery Way Extension, Squamish Business Park

The Sea to Sky division of Binnie provided civil engineering services for the design and construction phases of the Discovery Way Extension in the Squamish Business Park in Squamish, BC for the District of Squamish as part of the site servicing work required for the Squamish Wal-Mart and Squamish Home Depot Development in November, 2006.

The project consisted of 600 metres of new Collector class roadway (Discovery Way), 450 metres of Arterial class roadway (Commercial Way), and a two lane roundabout. The development emphasized the Smart Growth and Sustainable Design Principles and Philosophy promoted by the District of Squamish and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The management of the stormwater runoff from the pervious surfaces made extensive use of infiltration systems and detention ponds for meeting the requirement for Volume Reduction, Water Quality, and Detention.
