Highway 97 - Sintich Road to Fraser River

Location:
Prince George, BC

This Project was delivered under 2 separate contracts with Phase 1 completed in 2009 and Phase 2 completed in the summer of 2010. Phase 1 was from the Fraser River Bridge to the Continental overpass in Prince George. This 2.4 kilometer long project included the widening of the existing Hwy # 97 to the 4 line Caribou Highway with standard arterial design.

Construction included roadway and drainage works, paving, traffic signals, and median barrier. Phase 2 is 3.3 kilometers of reconstruction of Hwy #97, which adjoins Phase 1.  This project is similar to the above works but also included a 230 meter long soil anchored retaining wall.

Both phases have a detailed quality, safety, environmental and traffic management plan in place to ensure all work meets or exceeds the Ministry of Transportation requirements.

Binnie provided Construction Supervision Services for this large, multi discipline highways project.   The field team included construction experts, surveyors, and geotechnical engineers.  The team performed Quality Assurance Inspections and reviewed contractor submittals (QC Plan, Traffic Management Plan, and Site Safety Plan).  The team also surveyed quantities, prepared progress payments using PES, and kept the Ministry Project Manager up to date regarding project scope, schedule, and budget.
