Highway 99 Shoulder Bus Lane: King George Highway to Hwy 91

Location:
Surrey, BC

This project involved detailed design of 4.0 m wide and approximately 6.2 km long northbound shoulder bus lane on Highway 99 from the King George Highway Interchange on-ramp merge to the Highway 91 Interchange on-ramp merge to Highway 99.

Binnie worked closely with MMM Group to incorporate the widening of two bridge structures into the project.  To facilitate early works the design was fast-tracked and sections of the project were constructed by Day Labour Construction.  The remaining work was completed by contract.

Binnie's key responsibilities include Project Management, Detailed Design and Survey. Binnie was responsible for the existing ground survey and DTM preparation to facilitate the design.  Detailed Design included staging strategies for the existing pavement rehabilitation and bridge replacement.  Contract documents were created to ensure the project can be carried out efficiently in different stages.
