Lougheed Highway/Tamarack Lane Safety Improvements

Location:
District of Maple Ridge, BC

The District of Maple Ridge received a Canada-British Columbia Infrastructure Program grant to improve traffic safety on Lougheed Highway between the Haney Bypass and 105th Avenue. With the support from the Ministry of Transportation & infrastructure, the proposed improvement project include a new eastbound acceleration lane from River Road, installation of concrete median barrier on Lougheed Highway, and a new off-road path for the pedestrians and cyclists accessing the Kanaka Creek Regional Park. The design was successfully constructed in the summer of 2009.

Binnie prepared a Concept Design of the proposed safety improvement and attended the Public Open House to respond to all technical questions raised by the nearby residents. After receiving the feedback, the design team prepared the Detailed Design of the proposed highway and intersection improvements, cost estimate and contract documents for the construction works.  Binnie also provided field inspection services during the construction to ensure the product is as per the design.
