Pacific Reach Business Park Overall Site Development

Location:
Coquitlam, BC

Intrawest selected Binnie to be the Civil Engineer and Prime Consultant on this 260-acre Business Park in Coquitlam between Highway 1 and the Fraser River.

One of the significant features of this business park was the construction of United Boulevard, a major urban thoroughfare that alleviated the traffic. The site's location adjacent to the Fraser River and Como Creek as well as being an old industrial landfill made it a challenging project that had many environmental and geotechnical concerns. In addition to designing the roads and utilities, our services involved constructing the Como Creek Bridge (photo above), and relocating the Trans Mountain Oil Pipeline.

Binnie was responsible for coordinating and working with all subconsultants on the project as well as liaisoning with government agencies, including the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Transportation and Highways, Fraser River Estuary Management Program and the City of Coquitlam in order to secure the necessary approvals for the work to proceed. Binnie provided preliminary engineering, detailed design, specification and tender services, and contract administration for each phase of Pacific Reach. Two phases of the project are to be completed after this one.
