Seymour Greenway Trail

Location:
North Vancouver, BC

The Seymour Greenway Trail  passes through a variety of settings from greenbelts, BC Hydro Right of Way, parkland, and roadways.  The Seymour Greenway Trail is part of the North Shore Spirit Trail Greenway plan with 35km of trail extending all the way from Horseshoe Bay in the District of West Vancouver to Deep Cove in the District of North Vancouver.

The detailed design of the section of Seymour Greenway Trail on this assignment begins at the Mt. Seymour Parkway north to Capilano College and up to the City of North Vancouver property line (just south of the City of North Vancouver cemetery) along the existing BC Hydro right-of-way.

Binnie was responsible for design of a 1700m portion of the Seymour Greenway Trail.  The trail had steep grades of up to 15 to 20% in some sections.  The proposed cross section included design of a new 3.0 meter wide gravel and asphalt trail, depending on the section. The gravel portion of the trail was constructed in 2010 with the remaining asphalt portion planned for completion in the summerof 2011.
