SFPR / Highway 17 Interchange

Acting as a sub-consultant to Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd., Binnie was retained to provide detailed roadways design, preparation of major works tender packages, and engineering and inspection support during construction for the SFPR / Hwy 17 Interchange project, as well as improvements to Deltaport way and 57B intersection. 

The challenge of this project is the fast-track nature of the design in order to meet the construction schedule of the SFPR, as well as the poor soil condition encountered at the project site. The preload contract for the interchange approaches has been successfully prepared and the design team is now finalizing the design of the 28th Avenue underpass and approaches.

Binnie was responsible for developing a plan for the protection and relocation of utilities, design of laning and geometrics including final details for intersection and access treatment, typical sections and updated template cross sections, regulatory and warning sign plans, Class “B” Construction cost estimate, schedule of quantities and special provisions, internal design review and quality control/quality assurance.
