Squamish Wal-Mart, Squamish Business Park

The Sea to Sky division of Binnie provided civil engineering services for the design and construction phases of the Squamish Wal-Mart development located on Discovery Way in the Squamish Business Park in Squamish, BC for Smart Centre and Stantec Consulting.

Sitting on a 3.0 Hectare site and including a 81,000 square feet concrete building utilizing locally sourced timber and stone design features, the development emphasized the Smart Growth and Sustainable Design Principles and Philosophy promoted by the District of Squamish and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

The management of the stormwater runoff from the pervious surfaces made extensive use of rain garden infiltration systems and detention ponds to meet the requirement for Volume Reduction, Water Quality, and Detention.
