Stanley Park 'S' Curve Reconstruction

Binnie was retained to provide construction survey layout for the Stanley Park 'S' Curve Reconstruction Project at the entrance to the Stanley Park Causeway adjacent to Lost Lagoon. The project incorporated a complete realignment of the road section, construction of a bridge to improve the traffic movement, and the addition of a pedestrian underpass to facilitate access to  the Park.

The project complexity was increased due to traffic flow concerns and many unknown underground utility locations, requiring a full time surveyor on-site at all times. In order to minimize costs and increase the efficiency of the survey work, robotic technology was utilized and on-site design changes were implemented in the field by the project surveyor with zero impact on the project schedule. The project was successfully completed for a construction cost of $12 million.
