Binnie provides a complete range of consulting services for parks and sports facilities to a variety of municipal and private sector clients. As Project Managers and Civil Engineers, we provide significant value add to our clients and their projects in a number of key areas. Our services include project management, site planning, survey, detailed design and contract administration. We have acted as the prime consultant on numerous large and small parks and sports facility projects and have also participated in the design/build project delivery process, both as the Owner's Consultant and as part of a Contractor/Consultant team. Project Cost Management
Binnie considers cost management to be an extremely important component of every project. We have developed systems for tracking and managing costs that can be adapted to meet each client's reporting needs, through every phase of a project from the conceptual planning and design stages to construction completion. With our clients kept up to date on accrued costs during progressive project stages, changes can be made to the project budget or scope if required.
Site Planning and Design
We are well versed in the current standards for parks, sports fields (natural and synthetic turf), athletic facility layout, site programming and planning, and related works. Our services include the preparation of conceptual and detailed designs, reports, feasibility studies, project costing, as well as preparation of presentation materials such as colour drawings and information boards for public meetings and open houses.
Drainage Design
Stormwater management and siltation control are key components of virtually every project. Our engineers are highly skilled in current stormwater management techniques and principles. Our services include the design of in-field drainage systems, detention and biofiltration ponds, storm sewers, flood control, overland flow routing, siltation control during construction, and many other drainage-related works.
Irrigation Design
We provide design and inspection for all field and site irrigation systems including water connections, water servicing and flow, and pressure control systems.
Contract Administration
We have extensive experience as Contract Administrators. Our services include specification writing, contract document preparation, tendering, inspection, measurement for payment, review of contractor payments and payment certification, survey layout, and as-built drawing preparation.
Site Grading Design
Binnie’s approach to site grading incorporates the specific project requirements with drainage, geotechnical, aesthetic, safety and cost concerns. Our advanced computer software enables us to incorporate electronic topographic survey, balance cuts and fills, accurately determine excavation and backfill volumes, as well as identify any encroachment of cutting or filling onto adjacent properties. Our rigorous methodology maximizes project benefits while minimizing construction costs.
Survey
We have fully equipped survey crews who are experienced in topographic and construction surveys. Maintaining in-house survey capability ensures that Binnie can sustain quality and scheduling control of this important project component. This capacity also enables the cost-effective integration of all survey data into design plans.
Consultant Teams
Most projects typically require a coordinated team of specialized consultants. Binnie has the expertise to assemble a team of consultants on our client's behalf for a project. Apprised of the unique requirements of park and sport facility projects, we have developed strong relationships with Landscape Architects for soft landscaping works such as plantings and growing media, or for any specialized decorative hard landscaping that may be required. As Civil Engineers, we also have long standing working relationships with consultants who are usually required on site development projects such as geotechnical engineering firms for the soil investigations and materials testing, environmental consultants, structural engineers and electrical and lighting consultants.
